Call for Proposals

2008 Conference on Solution-Focused Practice

November 14 & 15

Austin Texas

Deadline:  June 30, 2008

We are planning to accommodate 2 types of workshops (1: discussion groups, and 2: didactic presentations) as well as poster presentations.

Discussion group facilitators are asked to provide 10-15 minutes of “starter” material and then to facilitate a discussion among participants. Facilitators do not need to be experts on their topics, but people who want to share with others their interests from a solution-focused brief practice perspective.

Presentation leaders are expected to be knowledgeable about their subject and to present a more formal didactic presentation optionally with some discussion and followed by Q & A. Sessions will last 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Poster presenters are asked to be present at their table during an hour wine and cheese on the evening of November 14th just prior to the banquet.  Our theme for the poster session is "what works" and we particularly invite people involved in research related SFBT to show their work - even if it is in a preliminary phase.

NOTE: In keeping with the original intention of SFBTA, discussion proposals will have priority in the selection process.

All proposals will be blind reviewed and ranked by three reviewers.  The proposals will be judged by interest, relevancy to solution-focus practice, quality, content, and duplication with other workshops.  A panel of representatives from the founder’s group will serve as reviewers.

Before a proposal can be considered, the following must be submitted:

1)  The completed Breakout Proposal form (below).

2) A detailed outline of your proposed breakout.

3) A list of discussion questions you plan to ask.

4) A list of objectives for the presentation

5) Submission of vitae or resumes of all listed presenters to ssw-profdev@utlists.utexas.edu

If you're a student and would like to have the experience of presenting a workshop, we encourage you to submit a proposal.  If you would like to be paired with an experienced presenter, please email the conference program chair,

If you have further questions regarding proposals for submission, contact  ssw-profdev@utlists.utexas.edu.

Step 1-4:  Complete and submit 1) the breakout proposal, 2) outline, 3) questions for discussion and 4) objectives: Remember to send resumes for all presenters - we will be unable to process the proposal prior to receipt of all applicable resumes.
