SFBTA Membership Committee

This Committee is chaired by the Board Secretary. The membership committee was created to build community and welcome our new members by reaching out and answering any questions they may have. This includes providing new members with a welcome email, a ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ document and any other pertinent resources/information. This committee also keeps track of membership data and researches/facilitates any new needs for membership.

If you're interested in joining, please email us at board@sfbta.org.

SFBTA’s Committees have the following characteristics in common:

The mission and goals of the Membership Committee are to:

  1. Members of Committees must be members of SFBTA (To find out how to become a member, see this page.|

  2. Committees have 1 board liaison (Board member who is the link between the committee and the SFBTA Board, this person is also the chairperson of the committee)

  3. Committees usually have between 5 to 10 members.

  4. Members meet monthly online to discuss committee decisions and activities. This schedule may be changed or amended as needed by the chairperson and members.

  5. Major committee decisions are conveyed by the board liaison to the SFBTA Board for approval, and then implemented with collaboration by the committee.

  6. Work continues between meetings using online collaborative documents so that meetings can remain accessible to people in various time zones and with various schedules.

  7. Committee roles are for 1 year periods with automatic renewal to the following year. Members are welcome to exit the committee if needed by providing one month’s notice to the chairperson.

  8. Committee members are expected to spend at least 2 hours a month on committee work: one hour for a monthly meeting as well as about 1 hour on activities, collaboration, and implementation of ideas.

  9. Any differences of opinion will be addressed using respectful, solution-focused approaches.
